How the image record is maintained
The repository keeps the same source information in a machine-readable image manifest. Approved images are downloaded from their source, converted into local responsive formats where appropriate, and served from Sea Travelers rather than hotlinked from the originating website. A source page may change its metadata over time, so the manifest also records when the reuse information was checked.
