Why this is a scenario builder
Historical routes rarely survive as exact tracks with complete logs. Vessel performance also varied by build, loading and weather. The tool therefore combines documented route context with transparent teaching assumptions. It is useful for understanding relationships among distance, ship choice, navigation and provisioning.
Route and vessel combinations need historical sense
The interface allows a small number of curated combinations rather than letting any ship appear on any route. A Viking knarr belongs naturally in a North Atlantic settlement scenario. A Polynesian voyaging canoe belongs within Pacific voyaging traditions. Restricting combinations prevents the tool from creating an apparently precise but historically incoherent result.
